We are coming up to the end of our first week at Hohlstrasse 506, our new home. It has been a great start and we are very excited about the potential we have have in this space.
There is one issue that has come to light which we want to address directly to avoid confusion.
As some of you may know already the structure of this building means that dropping heavy weights creates vibrations that are felt by the residents of the surrounding buildings. This is not related to the flooring we have or the change in the mats, it is due to the actual building itself.
Given this situation we will have to make slight adjustments in our workouts in order to ensure a positive and long lasting relationship with our neighbors.
As we have done already this week we will be using black mats as needed to reduce vibration and noise when using heavy weights. We will be especially careful when it comes to deadlifts, snatches, cleans and jerks.
When we say to use mats as needed this means that you can use as many mats as required to ensure that your weights do not prove distributive.
We will continue to look for other solutions such as platforms for very heavy weights but we also ask for your understandingwith this situation. Controlling your weight is as an important part of weight training as anything else.
Coming from Letzigraben, where we enjoyed a little more freedom, it may take some time to adjust but we are confident that we will adapt quickly as a community and not lose any progress in achieving our fitness goals.
